Portfolio Manager
Tim Callan
After spending time in equity research at Goldman Sachs, Tim moved to a buy-side role with K2 Asset Management. Starting in the distribution team, Tim gained insights into the fundraising process at both a wholesale and retail level. He became K2’s primary equities dealer in 2011, with responsibilities inclusive of global trading, portfolio rebalancing, and Australian company research. Assuming Portfolio Management duties in 2012, Tim was one of five Managers within the $500m K2 Australian Absolute Return Fund. This role included contributions into the K2 Global High Alpha Fund, with Tim later becoming a key member of the K2 Australian Small Cap Fund. Tim resigned from K2 in March 2018 to establish PURE Asset Management and is both a Director and Portfolio Manager across PURE’s Income & Growth and PURE Resources Fund’s.
Portfolio Manager
Mike Henshaw
Starting his career in London, Mike has over 28 years’ experience in financial markets across a range of buy/sell side roles. Since commencing work in Australia, Mike spent 3 years as the Head of Research at LINWAR (BNP Paribas), before moving to the buy-side as an Investment Manager at Thorney Investments. Immediately prior to co-founding PURE Mike was the Head of Industrials Research at Petra Capital, a boutique broker focussed exclusively on emerging growth companies. Throughout this tenure, Petra raised in excess of A$2b for emerging ASX companies led by key success stories TPG Telecom, Dicker Data, Ingenia Communities, and G8 Education.
The genesis of PURE stems from the information led pricing anomalies within Australia’s emerging company universe, and a widespread propensity for micro- and smallcap boards and executive teams to view their equity price as ‘undervalued’.
Portfolio Manager
Nick Berry
Nick has over 16 years’ experience as a sell-side equity analyst across a range of industries and market sectors. After 5 years as an analyst at ABN AMRO/RBS, Nick was an early appointee to cornerstone Nomura’s re-entry into Australian cash equities where he held the position of Executive Director. Moving to Petra Capital in 2014, it was here his passion for small cap investing developed. Once exposed to Petra’s active ECM involvement, Nick’s skill-set rapidly broadened from that of an equities analyst to deal origination, structuring and capital raising. These are the traits that form the basis of PURE’s investment strategy.

Here Dan analysed resources companies, from early-stage exploration companies, to those breaking into production and larger cap miners.
